Snail Quest 6.1

you are wandering through (cycling-link: bind $place, "the streets of your neighborhood", "a garden", "your backyard", "an alley behind the local Denny's") when you find a snail it is friend-shaped as you approach, it lifts its head and curiously reaches out to you [[bend down to look at the snail]] [[leave snail to mind its business]]

you assume that this snail probably has its own business to attend to, and you were quite enjoying your walk anyway as you are making your way back from your stroll, you are almost to your front door when you see another small shell-adorned, friend-shaped, slimy boi the little snail's eyestalks unfurl themselves and stretch out inquisitively [[pause in your stride and reflect upon this mini mollusk|bend down to look at the snail]] [[am i being stalked by snails??]]

this is a very cute snail [[gently try to pick up the snail]] [[hold your hand out in front of the snail]]

you gently try to pinch the shell of this snail and lift it up, but the foot of the snail seems fairly well attatched to the surface not wanting to pull [[too hard]], you let go it is then that you vaguely remember a wikihow article on handling snails, and you realize that a patient approach might be best [[hold your hand out in front of the snail]]

you find some small tomatoes in the fridge, and then you realize you must have placed them in there by mistake. after all, storing tomatoes in a chilled environment does affect the methylation of genes that regulate the production of volatile compounds that contribute to the tomatoes' taste and aroma but a snail probably wouldn't mind anyway you slice one of the tomatoes in half and present it to $name <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/IbZM_l6_ugA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> sure enough, $name seems to really enjoy the fruit! they seem grateful [[time to think about what's next]] [[(real quick, what would it be like if a tomato went to high school?)]]

you have had such a lovely day bonding with $name, but perhaps this was just one of many adventures to be had for your snail friend. you contemplate what a snail might need on its journies through the great outdoors. you consider making a small sword out of toothpicks (it is dangerous to go alone), but then you remember that your friend doesn't have hands. well, at least they won't need armor you reach your hand down to $name one last time, and they crawl right on before you lead them to the door. you gently lower them down, but they seem to hesitate before slowly inching off your hand, leaving a thin film of slime in their wake you pet your friend on the shell for good luck, and it retracts and wiggles its eyestalks as you say goodbye you wave as $name heads away into the grass, and know that you'll keep this memory forever now begins...
